STORY: Based on Truman Capote's bittersweet memoir, The Grass Harp is a treasure - a beautiful coming-of-age story told by Colin Fenwick, a young boy who is forced to live with his two aunts, Verena and Dolly Talbo, after the death of his parents. His aunt Verena (a cold aggressive businesswoman) causes a revolt in her household . . . that ends up dividing the entire town. Verena claims there is "money to be made" so she tries to force her sister Dolly (a sweet-natured spinster) and their gutsy black kitchen maid Catherine to give up Dolly's secret recipe that cures illness, so Verena can market that recipe.

The title refers to the rustling wind through tall blades of grass that surround the Talbo home. As Dolly puts it: "If you listen closely to the blades of grass in the wind, you will hear their voices - a grass harp of voices-- of those we've loved who've passed on."
