You’ve learned a lot of new Meisner tools and put them together for classwork. But how do you prepare to take on a major role that has depth?
This scene study class, directed by Pamela Peak, will help you stand in the shoes of those who play leading dramatic or comedic roles. You will do two or three scenes from the same major work in order to understand the emotional journey of that character and the change they undergo throughout that screenplay.
Not only does this class help you pull all your skills together and use them at lightning speed (called for by professional actors working with directors), but it will help you also do the following:
- Break down the script of a leading role so the proper homework sets you up for great success in your performance.
- Learn how a Meisner actor rehearses, in order to achieve a performance that will profoundly impact an audience time and time again, and
- Deliver a performance that is professional. Your work will have the elements achieved by those who work at top theater companies and in major motion pictures.
For over a decade, the actors of The On Impulse Acting Troupe have been doing that kind of professional work. Audiences often compare their performances to those seen at Segerstrom Center performances. All the actors in that troupe use the rehearsal and performance skills taught in this class. Their work has been touching the hearts of audiences in Southern California for years, and they have a faithful following who shows up for their shows time and time again.
Join us, Sunday evening April 7th from 5 – 7:30 PM (Note, rehearsal times with your partner and to work with Pamela can start at 4 PM, depending on your schedule. Pamela works as a director for each scene and its actors, in depth.)

NOTE: The scheduled time for performing each of your scenes will be set ahead of time. Time for rehearsing with partners starts at 4 PM before class.
